Non-Discrimination Policy and Statement Gwynedd Mercy University is committed to maintaining a positive learning , working , and living environment that is free from unlawful discrimination and harassment . Retaliation will not be tolerated at Gwynedd Mercy University . Although discrimination and harassment described and prohibited by this policy include a wide range of behaviors , certain discriminatory conduct is addressed elsewhere . For example , sexual harassment is addressed in the University ’ s Sexual Misconduct Policy . Individuals who violate this policy shall be disciplined or subjected to corrective action , up to and including termination or expulsion .
Title IX As a recipient of Federal funds , Gwynedd Mercy University is required to comply with Title IX of the Higher Education Amendments of 1972 , 20 U . S . C . § 1681 et seq . (“ Title IX ”), which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in educational programs or activities , admission and employment . Under certain circumstances , Sexual Misconduct constitutes sexual discrimination prohibited by Title IX . In addition , the University complies with Section 304 of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 (“ VAWA ”).
