Internship III ( SC )
CNS 610 is the third course in a series of three field experiences . School counselor – trainees will perform all tasks and duties ascribed to school counselors as determined by the American School Counselor Association ( ASCA ) National Model under the supervision of an experienced professional school counselor and a university supervisor . For School Counseling students enrolled in Internship , the Pennsylvania Department of Education requires a total of 420 hours with 210 hours in internship I ( CNS 608 ) and 210 hours in internship II ( CNS 609 ). In Internship III ( CNS 610 ) an additional 180 hours are required to satisfy both the Counseling Program and CACREP requirements of 600 total internship hours and facilitates progress towards state licensure in the clinical mental health field . This course ( CNS 610 ) requires 180 internship hours . Additionally , this course requires direct and indirect service hours with a minimum of 72 hours being direct service hours . School counseling students are required to attend 1.5 hours of mandatory synchronous group supervision weekly .

EDU-502 The Learning and Teaching Pro Overview of learning theories and their relationship to the facilitation of optimal learning environments . This course examines , through research , human learning over the life span as well as developmental and cognitive learning theories . Students will have the opportunity to apply learning theories to issues of typical and diverse learners . The applied practices of school life such as classroom management , curriculum development , learning standards , intelligence and testing , outcomes assessment and technologies in education will be analyzed and critiqued .
