• Evaluate and identify the need for alternative modes of communication with clients , families , and other professionals .
• Visualize , identify and discriminate anatomic structures and function during real time / live examinations and imaging tests ( e . g ., MBSS , FEES , etc .).
• Make accurate judgements about speech , language , and other communication signals such as sign language , and augmentative and alternative communication modes .
5 . Behavioral / Social - A student must possess adequate behavioral and social to :
• Display mature empathetic and effective professional relationships by exhibiting compassion , collaboration , responsibility , integrity , and concern for others .
• Follow the ASHA Code of Ethics as well as department , university and federal policies .
• Dress appropriately and professionally as outlined in graduate student handbook
• Maintain appropriate professional behavior , including punctuality , regular attendance and adherence to semester schedule , and timely completion of responsibilities .
• Recognize and show respect for individuals with disabilities and for individuals of different ages , genders , race , religions , sexual orientation , and cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds .
• Understand and respect faculty and supervisory authority including complying with reasonable requests , responding to constructive criticism and feedback , and adhering to clinical and classroom policies such as punctuality and attendance .
• Maintain general physical , mental and self-care , including immunizations and medical documentation , to uphold the health and safety of self and others in academic and clinical settings .

Compliance Requirements and Clearances : MSSLP students must be compliant with all clearance and health and wellness requirements . At the onset of the Program , students will be sent information and instructions for access to the Complio system . Clearance and health and wellness requirements are annual , so they will need to be redone the following year to remain in compliance . Failure to adhere to the required compliance deadlines may result in course grade deductions and disapproval to register for the subsequent Program term . Clearance and health and wellness requirements for the MSSLP Program include PA State Police background check , PA child abuse clearance , FBI fingerprints , American Heart Association Heart Saver First Aid , CPR , AED Certification . In addition , students must follow all university requirements for vaccinations .
