Primary Care Practicum I
This course provides students with the theoretical base to assess , diagnose and manage the primary care of women and pregnancy . Course content includes the principles of health promotion , disease prevention , and management of common primary health care problems in the diverse pregnant and female population . Emphasis is placed on the diagnosis and management of acute episodic and chronic conditions of the pregnant and nonpregnant female patient in the context of the primary care setting and community . Evidenced based practice is utilized as the basis for primary care management and decision-making including diagnosis , appropriate diagnostic procedures , laboratory tests , and follow up care . Clinical experiences are provided in a variety of primary care settings .
