Under the provisions of FERPA , currently enrolled students may withhold disclosure of such information . To prevent disclosure , written notification must be received by the Office of the Registrar by the end of the Drop / Add period during the fall or spring semesters ( see Academic calendar for specific dates ) and will remain in effect until rescinded in writing . Any requests made from non-institutional persons or organizations will be refused . Students who do not want their directory information released to a third party must fill out the
FERPA No Disclosure form ( online form ).
Annual Notification of Rights Each year , schools are required to notify the student and parents of their rights under FERPA . At Gwynedd Mercy University , the student is notified through the distribution of the Undergraduate and Graduate Catalogs . A parent or eligible student may file a written complaint with the Office regarding an alleged violation under the Act and this part . Pregnancy Non- Discrimination Policy
Under the Department of Education ’ s ( DOE ) regulations implementing Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 , a college or university “ shall not discriminate against any student , or exclude any student from its education program or activity , including any class or extracurricular activity , on the basis of such student ’ s pregnancy , childbirth , false pregnancy , and termination of pregnancy or recovery therefrom .” According to these materials , not discriminating against a pregnant student means granting her leave “ for so long a period of time as is deemed medically necessary by the student ’ s physician ,” and then effectively reinstating the student “ to the status which she held when the leave began .” Pregnant students are entitled to accommodations under Title IX and / or the American with Disabilities Act ( ADA ) and / or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act .
