Public Health Analytic Methods I
3 Public health is influenced by environmental , biological , behavioral , social , political and economic determinants . This course provides an overview of the field of public health , addressing key areas foundational to understanding these determinants and the importance of evidence in improving health in global communities . Students will explore health across the life course within an eco-social framework and an emphasis on health equity .
3 Public health practice depends on a thorough understanding of the evidence that guides identification of the underlying causes of disease and health and effective health promoting interventions . This two course series provides a foundation in epidemiology , biostatistics , and research methods . Students will apply epidemiological methods to a range of public health situations . They will learn how to select appropriate quantitative and qualitative research methods to address public health concerns , analyze data , and interpret results for public health practice .
