3 This course addresses behavioral health disorders and the nurse ' s role in assisting patients to achieve and maintain optimum behavioral health . Content encompasses neurobiological , psychosocial , cultural , and spiritual perspectives . Effective therapeutic communication skills , the nurse-patient relationship , and the nursing process are applied to the care of patients across the lifespan . Emphasis is placed on the role of the nurse in promoting person-centered care and maintaining a culture of safety on the behavioral health unit . The role of the clinical nurse leader in behavioral health will be explored .
