Found Special Educ Inclusive Classroom
3 This course provides educators and counselors with an overview of the philosophical , historical , and legal foundations of special education , including current identification criteria such as child find , Response to Instruction and Intervention , and the development of the IEP . Students will be able to identify current definitions , etiology , and incidence and prevalence figures related to special education and counseling , as well as the cognitive , behavioral , and physical characteristics of the special learner . The course will require students to demonstrate knowledge of and competence in applying the fundamental concepts of modifying , adapting , and accommodating for the special learner in the general education classroom and counseling context . Students also develop skills to support parents .

Effective Communication for Educators
3 This course provides education professionals with the skills and techniques to effectively communicate with students , colleagues , administrators , parents , and the community . Effective communication impacts every area of human interaction and determines the quality of personal and professional success for all individuals . For this reason , the study of communication requires an examination of a wide range of human skills , which includes : speaking , listening , writing , reading , verbal and nonverbal behavior , and the effective use of communication tools available through the media and the internet .
