In the spirit of Gracie Allen , the Gracie Awards are an unapologetically diverse , loud , personal , funny , emotional , bold celebration of what it means to be a 21st Century woman .
In 1975 , The Gracie Awards were established to celebrate broadcasting that demonstrates superior quality and stellar depiction of the changing roles and concerns of women . Today , the Gracies still promote positive and realistic portrayals of women in all broadcasting mediums by honoring individuals and organizations that have made such productions possible . The passion , hard work and commitment of honorees are examples for all in media to strive toward . A pioneer in motion pictures , radio and television , Gracie Allen left a legacy that embodies the character of The Gracies Awards program today .
The Gracies are the largest fundraising event for the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation , a charitable non-profit that creates educational programs , charitable activities , and scholarship initiatives to benefit the public and women in the media .
