Welcome ( a little late ) to the 2021 Gracies ! While I didn ’ t think we would be saying this again in 2021 , this was another year unlike any other Gracie Awards celebration . I am honored to be serving as chair of the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation in a year where we are celebrating 70 years since our founding and being able to recognize Gracie winners despite being unable to gather in person . We have recognized truly exceptional content by , for , and about women this year .
Events from the past year and a half have reminded us that recognizing expertise , courage , and contributions across all segments of media is essential to ensuring continued growth and progress for our industry .
As our largest fundraiser of the year , The Gracies enable the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation to deliver on its promise of furthering the connection , education , and recognition of women in media . In the more than four decades since the inception of the Gracie Awards , the past year has shown us the importance of brave storytellers who share poignant , relevant , and compelling content . The record number of Gracie entries this past year reinforces that content creators and influencers are leading critical change , and our role is to put those platforms at center stage .
For more than 70 years , the Alliance for Women in Media has harnessed the promise and passion of women in media to empower others in career development , thought leadership and the drive for progress in our industry and society . The investment of time and funding enables us to celebrate the hard work and commitment that make these programs possible . Please join us as we continue to build on our legacy and look ahead to an important future .
We will continue to elevate the power and status of women . But for now , let ’ s pause to raise a glass to a year of vital , creative and amazing women dedicated to excellence in broadcast , interactive and entertainment media . Cheers !
