In February, the Class of 2018 had their Graduation ceremony. Chief Guest, Mr. Jacob Mathew, Managing Editor, Malayala Manorama, inspired the young graduates with his moving speech. “Cyber Bullying: Should School Counsellors Intervene?” International Hoopathon Series 2017 Global Public School hosted the BIKOS Workshop for School Counsellors, organized by Cochin Refineries School and Kerala Police in November. The Australian Basketball team visited our school in November as part of the International Hoopathon Series 2017. Mr. Tim Mottin (Coach of the Australian Team), Peter Hynson, Ben Draper, Sue Egan and Maree Mortin accompanied the Australian team. Mr. C.V Sunny, Coach of the Indian basketball team and former Indian National men's basketball team captain, graced the occasion with his presence. Dr. Karthikeyan Gokul Chandran, IPS, Asst Commissioner, Narcotics Cell was the Chief Guest. Dr Chalam Das, MD, Psychiatrist from Sunrise Hospital was the Guest Speaker. Forensic experts from Cyber Cell Kochi also spoke on the occasion. Bringing Computational Thinking to Schools SPIC MACAY celebrated Kerala Piravi with us The talented Langa M a n ga n i a r s, fo l k singers from Rajasthan mesmerized us all in a programme organized by SPIC MACAY (Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) in November as part of our Kerala Piravi celebrations. CSpathshala, a national computing initiative, supported by ACM, Google and TCS, conducted a one day workshop at Global Public School to train teachers in modern computing curriculum, emphasizing on problem solving and computational thinking skills. Vipul Shah, Principal Scientist, Tata Consultancy Services, Pune and Head of ACM India CSpathshala Initiative and Mr Shekhar Sahsrabudhe (President Systems Lts), ACM India COO led the workshop which was attended by 30 teachers from around 10 schools.
