NO FLUKE FOR FERRARI
Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari departed Bahrain leading the Formula 1 World
Championship - drivers’ and constructors’ - their best start to a season since
2008, clearly signaling their intent to take the fight to the once all conquering
Mercedes team who were crushed despite dominating qualifying.
Vettel is at his best, relishing and “loving what he does”, his four world title
credentials shining through as he spearheads the Ferrari challenge single-
handedly, while his teammate Kimi Raikkonen continues to find his feet.
This was no fluke - Ferrari are back in business!
Mercedes ‘new boy’ Valtteri Bottas scored his first Formula 1 career pole
position with a neat lap that broke Lewis Hamilton’s run of six consecutive top
spot starts. Alas in the race the Finn was relegated to the team’s number two
driver, making way for his teammate on two occasions.
Red Bull looked fit for a fight, but an early shower for Max Verstappen and
tyres that simply did not work for Daniel Ricciardo meant that the energy
drinks outfit found little fizz in the desert. Of course there was plenty more...
