Nico Rosberg is emerging as a worthy contender for the 2016 Formula 1
World Championship crown after another mega performance, this time at
the Simgapore Grand Prix where he obliterated his rivals in qualifying and,
24 hours later, drove a well calculated race to claim victory despite huge
pressure from Daniel Ricciardo and Red Bull.
In the heat of the night, Rosberg kept his cool in a thrilling race finale to
claim his third victory in a row since the season resumed late last month.
To add a cherry to the cake, the win at the challenging Marina Bay Circuit
happened on the occasion of his 200th grand prix.
After relinquishing the title lead to Mercedes teammate at the Hungarian
Grand Prix, Rosberg has regrouped and come out fighting stronger than
ever. His boss hailed his drive, on a memorable night, as the best of his
career. The fact that he now leads the championship by eight points only
sweetens what for him is already a delicious prize.
