Lewis Hamilton goes off on his summer break with momentum on his
side after trouncing Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg at the German
Grand Prix and with it extending his points lead in the Formula 1 world
championship. A couple of months ago he trailed by 43 points. He has
turned the tables big time, and ahead of the holidays added insult to
injury by winning so convincingly on Rosberg’s home soil.
Chasing all weekend long were the Red Bull duo of Daniel Ricciardo
and Max Verstappen, the latter again involved in a feisty contest during
the race, as the energy drinks outfit re-established themselves behind
Mercedes in the pecking order and ahead of Ferrari.
The Reds went AWOL in Germany, their below par form and lack of
pace - relative to Mercedes and Red Bull for that matter - was alarming.
Clearly something is amiss within the ranks at Maranello.
