S
even young golfers, including Diksha
Dagar and Aadil Bedi, have quali¿ ed
to represent India at the 2018 Asian
Games, scheduled to be held in Indonesia in
August 2018.
India’s junior golfers are making steady
inroads in the global Golf terrain.
Naveed Kaul, Harimohan Singh, Rayhan
Thomas also made the cut for the Multisport
event in the men’s team, while Diksha Dagar,
Ridhima Dilawari and Sifat Sagoo were
selected in the women’s team.
A total of six rounds were held and the best
¿ ve were considered as the qualifying score
at the trails, which happened from April 22 to
30 at the National Capital Region. The golf
event at the Asian Games is scheduled to be
held from August 21 to 25.
The future of Junior Golf in India looks
upbeat. If the young talented golfers continue
with the momentum, the day is not far when
Golf in India would become a force to reckon
with.
India’s track record in Asian Games golf is
fairly good. In 1982 when golf was introduced
at the Asian Games, Lakshman Singh and
Rajiv Mohta won gold and silver and the
Indian team won the gold. Shiv Kapur won
the individual gold in 2002. In 2006 (Anirban
Lahiri, Gaganjeet Bhullar, Chiragh Kumar
and Joseph Chakola) and 2010 (Rashid Khan,
Rahul Bajaj, Abhinav Lohan and Abhijit
Chadha) won the team silver for boys.

To build up the game we are playing one
international tournament every month now,
as Team India with support from IGU and
SAI. I am not leaving any stone unturned to
bring medal for the county in forth coming
Asian Games and Eisenhower cup at Ireland
from 5-9 September 2018.
AADIL BEDI
2 Months are left. I have changed my
equipment. I would be fl ying off abroad
more and focusing more on fi tness. I plan
to play more International games to get an
exposure to the playing conditions and golf
courses. I will be sticking more to what I
am doing right putting in more practice.
SIFAAT SAGOO
I was very excited to win trials for
Asian Games but eventually it is a sense
of responsibility to represent India. I
have represented country many times
internationally but Asian Games is defi nitely
special and I know that previous experiences
will help me in better performance.
