Since 2011 , the International Junior Golf Academy ( IJGA ) in conjunction with the Albatross Junior Tour has hosted coaching golf camps throughout India . This year ’ s golf camp included stops in Chandigarh , Gurgaon and Delhi .
The IJGA - Albatross coaching programs have been regular feature in the junior golf calendar in India ever since 2012 . Director of Golf Jonathan Yarwood had the pleasure of spending six days in India to help grow the game and provide wisdom and guidance from his years spent teaching on the PGA Tour . Yarwood has had great success at both ends of the spectrum ranging from taking students of eleven years old to the tour through many years of work , to coaching a major winner in the 2005 US Open winner , Michael Campbell .
Over the years , numerous juniors have bene�ted from this program . All aspects of the game were focused on including : short game and putting along with Trackman assisted training and video analysis . The juniors left the camp with a
26 GolfPlus Junior June-July 2018 new found understanding of their swings as well as blue print for success for each to follow moving forward . Yarwood was very impressed with promising talent being shown in India and thinks the future is very bright . “ It is only a matter of time before India produces a major champion on the professional tour ,” said Yarwood .
Best of all , Indian juniors are invited to undertake a more extensive coaching program at the academy ’ s home , in Hilton Head Island ( South Carolina ), USA . IJGA is one of the world ’ s premier academies helping students from around the world earn a college scholarship and pursue a professional career following university . Over 50 Indian Juniors have availed opportunities of training at IJGA be it in the Academy Full time or Summer Weekly training programs . IJGA is focused on three core pillars : academics , golf , and character .
IJGA students go to Yale , they go to Columbia , they go to Notre Dame , but they also go to The Masters and The Olympic Games . IJGA was founded in 1995 as a home for elite juniors from around the world looking to earn college golf scholarships in the United States . Since 1995 , IJGA has achieved nearly 100 % college placement and graduates have earned over $ 52 million in college golf scholarships .
