LI, MOLDOVAN EMERGE VICTORIOUS AT
POLO GOLF JUNIOR CLASSIC AT LIBERTY
NATIONAL
The Championship match of the 42nd
annual Polo Golf Junior Classic fi nished
at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey
City, New Jersey, with Maxwell Moldovan
of Uniontown, Ohio, and Lucy Li of
Redwood Shores, California, crowned as
the champions.
The fi eld, which includes 32 boys and
32 girls, was comprised of 47 AJGA
Champions and 38 Rolex AJGA All-
Americans. Even more, 50 players had
committed to play college golf. The Polo
Golf Junior Classic also featured the top-
ranked boy Michael Thorbjornsen of
Wellesley, Massachusetts, and four of the
top-10 ranked girls in the Rolex AJGA
Rankings. Liberty National Golf Club
hosted the AJGA for the fi rst time in 2019.
Designed by Tom Kite and Bob Cupp and
opened on July 4, 2006, the 18-hole course
East with a 4 & 3 victory over Alexander
Yang of Carlsbad, California. The East and
West each scored 10 points on the day with
East and West winning eight matches apiece
and the teams halving four matches. (Pic 2)

GIRLS’ CHAMPIONSHIP

captured her second CGA championship
title at the 53rd Twin States Junior Girls’
Championship with a 4-over-par, 148 total.
The Carnegie Mellon rising freshman tied
Peyton Gillespie of Greenville, S.C. for the
low round of the day with 1-under-par, 71
in the fi nal round. Sudjianto climbed her
way to the top of the leaderboard after a
5-over-par, 77 in the fi rst round. She started
the fi nal round in a three-way tie for sixth.

I was very confi dent off the tee and that
just helped me with better angles into the
greens. On top of that, I was able to sink
some putts that I wasn’t able to yesterday.”

U.S. GIRLS’ JUNIOR QUALIFYING RESULTS
- MT. VINTAGE GC IN NORTH AUGUSTA, SC
Alexis Sudjianto of Charlotte, N.C. was
one of two players in red numbers at
the U.S. Girls’ Junior Qualifi er at Mt.
Vintage Golf Club. Her two-under-par
70 earned her medalist honors and a trip
to Stevens Point, Wis. for the U.S. Girls’
Championship in her fi nal summer as a
junior player. Sudjianto stayed steady all
day, carding two bogeys and four birdies
to fi nish at two-under-par. Three other
players qualifi ed for the championship,
including Jensen Castle of West Columbia,
S.C. (71), Mallory Fobes of East Bend,
N.C. (73) and Emma Schimpf of Daniel
Island, S.C. (74). Alexia Siehl of Fort Mill,
S.C. is the fi rst alternate. Mary Kathryn
Talledo of Spartanburg, S.C. is the second
alternate. Four qualifying spots and two
alternate positions were available at this
qualifying site.
