Women Of the World
Abraham Lincoln once said that
almost everyone can triumph
over adversity but give them
power and their true character
shines through. The following
international GoWomen made
Forbes 2013 list of Powerful
Women for Philanthropy and
they are on this list because
they show that sometimes
power lies not only in who we
are or what we have, but also
in what we do for others. As
Forbes described them, they
are; “...women that go beyond
the traditional taxonomy of
the power elite (political and
economic might). These change
agents are actually shifting
our very idea of clout and
authority and, in the process,
transforming the world in fresh
and exhilarating ways.”
Here are three women of the
world who give to enhance the
lives of other women.

education accessible to all. Known
as the “third son” of the richest
man in Asia, she is the founder of HS
Chau Foundation, which focuses on
providing educational opportunities
for girls in rural China. Hoping to build

launched Project Tomorrow
an
integrated system supporting all the
elements which comprise a good

universities, for teachers and students
alike including cultural learning,
technical training, school supplies,
technology
and
infrastructure.
The key initiative so far is to build
a network of "Tomorrow Primary
Schools" furnished with computer
equipment, implementing training
programs for the "Female Teachers
of Tomorrow", and establishing
education sponsorships for the
"Girls of Tomorrow" and the "Female
University Students of Tomorrow".

CATHERINE MUTHER left her
position as Senior Marketing Officer
at Cisco Systems in 1994, to commit
to impacting change through social
equity and civil society. Inspired
by an essay by Virginia Woolf, she
founded Three Guineas Fund, an
organization which aims to create
social change by investing in women
and girls. The aim is to provide
them with economic opportunities
thereby enabling them to improve
their independent earning potential,
participate actively in civil society,
contribute to the economy and give
back to their local communities.
