tunnel boot, while at the rear
nearside is a compartment
for a generator, etc. The rear
offside is home to yet another
storage compartment, while
the shallow checkerplate
tray across the very rear of
the van will no-doubt prove
useful for carrying the
firewood you’ll collect as you
approach your destination.
The storage theme continues
inside the van – I especially
liked the linen cupboard
behind the shower. In fact,
the bathroom in general is
a winner for me.
2. POWER
The Bluegum comes
equipped with four 110Ah
deep-cycle batteries that,
when you’re off-grid, can
be charged by the dual
130W solar panels. But
why not carry a 2kVA
generator for those times
when you’re caught short?
A 40A multi-charge charger
(in the main tunnel boot)
is fitted for those times
when you are plugged
into 240V power.
The batteries are secured
in metal boxes and secured
to the main chassis rails
– two batteries per side.
3. WATER
With three 95L fresh tanks
provided, it’s unlikely you’ll
need to return to civilisation
