EASY RUN TO SEA LAKE
The run to Sea Lake from Lascelles is easy , and the Sea Lake silo is stunning ! Painted by Drapl ( Travis Vinson ) and The Zookeeper ( Joel Fergie ) in 2019 , this series of silos are amazing ! The Mallee scenery and indigenous girl on the swing overlooking Lake Tyrrell showcase the Mallee ’ s colour while the night sky reflects the Booroong people ’ s knowledge of astronomy .
The Nullawill silo is right on the highway , and the attention to detail in the ‘ Man and his Dog ’ silo is impactful . Painted by Sam ( Smug ) Bates in July 2019 , this silo highlights farmers ' mateship with their working dogs . This image tugged at my heartstrings .
We left the Calder Highway at Nullawil and headed almost directly west on secondary and dirt roads to Rosebery and a unique silo painted by artist Kaffeine on the Henty Highway . Completed in 2017 , this silo illustrates love of the land typical of the people who live on it . It also depicts the female farmers who need to be tough and resilient .
The ' Man and his Dog ' silo will tug at your heartstrings .
The Sea Lake silo .
' Faces of Man ' in Brim .
FACES OF MAN
We moved on , heading south through Beulah to Brim and the ‘ Faces of Man ’ silo . This was beautifully lit in the afternoon sun and looked great from across the road in the car park . Painted by Guido van Helten in 2016 , it was the first silo to be painted in Victoria . It is located right on the Henty Highway . The story behind this art is representative of the community . We loved the detail in the expressions of the men .
From here , it was a short drive to our final camp at the Yarriambiack Weir Pool . Hot showers , plenty of room to camp and a colourful sunset saw the end of camping although we still had two more silos to see and a Land Crusier and Ultimate camper to clean before we headed home .
