FREEDOM CAMP OF THE MONTH
Metres down the road from Green Point Beach Camping Area at Marrawah is the beach ! The park here has toilets , cold showers , a playground , a sheltered barbecue and picnic tables with amazing beach views .
There are more picnic tables in the camp area , which is suitable for motorhomes , campervans , camper trailers and tents . Bring drinking water . Among the facilities are cold outdoor showers . No open fires are allowed , though .
The campsite is clearly signed and on the right before the beach . Choose from flat bitumen sites or some grassy spots with varying levels ( some flat ). It is not a big area – there were six campers there when we visited .
You can see the beach from the highest point in the campground , just behind the dunes . You ' ll see the same red colour on some of the rocks that you find in the Bay of Fires .
There is a ramp to the beach – it was a grey day when we were there but we could still admire the wild beauty of it all .
You can see right to Woolnorth Bluff Point Wind Farm , near Cape Grim . This is where north-west Tasmania points into the ocean , south of Trefoil and Hunter islands .
