What these stories are intended to show you is that , while caravanning and camping across the country is normally an enjoyable experience , there are times when it is not all beer and skittles . Even the best-prepared traveller can be struck by circumstances completely out of their control and if you ’ re not in a position to adequately deal with it , it can derail not just your travel plans but your whole lives .
I can give you all the advice in the world but , at the end of the day , dealing with these sorts of events really comes down to the fortitude , mindset and ability to react to a crisis of the individuals involved .
Kassidy was a much loved member of our family and losing her was devastating .
While you ’ re planning your travels , I strongly recommend you spend some time thinking about the unthinkable . Consider the sort of life events that could transpire while you ’ re away and give some thought to how you might deal with them . To get you started , here ’ s a list of some of the events you may experience :
• Severe mechanical breakdown ;
• Motor vehicle accident ;
• Serious injury or illness in your travelling group ;
• Death or family emergency back home ;
• Home emergency ( such as a fire or break-in );
• Natural disaster restricts your movements ;
• Pet emergency ;
• Total loss of your rig ; and
• Pandemic lockdowns .
