The damage to Warren and Leigh s 4WD . Warren took the brunt of the collision .
WARREN AND LEIGH
Our good friends were enjoying a holiday in November 2020 when disaster struck . They were driving near Ballina , NSW , when Warren saw a car approaching in the opposite direction , swerving towards their side of the road .
Warren did all he could to avoid the oncoming car but there was little he could do . The car slammed into the front driver ’ s side of their Mazda BT-50 in an offset head-on collision .
The results were nothing short of horrifying and the pictures tell the story . Both their car and beloved caravan were write-offs . Both Warren and Leigh were taken to hospital . Leigh was discharged three days later but Warren ’ s injuries were far more severe . He survived the crash but endured 18 months of recovery .
Warren and Leigh have both fully recovered and they now have a new car and caravan to continue their adventures but the memories of that fateful day will be with them forever . Leigh said that she was grateful they had a dash cam in the car as it captured the whole event and helped show that they were not at fault . They are also very thankful for the support they received from their family and many friends .
Warren and Leigh posted this picture to Facebook to show their friends and family they were okay . Warren says he was pretty doped up and managed a smile for the picture .
