A rear-view camera with reversing guidelines ( including a centre guideline for hitching a trailer ) and auto-on LED headlights are also standard equipment on the GX .
The Land Cruiser GX comes with five seats , keyless start , remote central locking , two-zone climate control , driver seat height adjustment , one-touch power windows , power-adjustable and power folding side mirrors and a snorkel . There ’ s also a 9in colour touchscreen , digital radio , Apple CarPlay and Android Auto , one front USB port , two 12V accessory ports ( one front , one rear ) and one 220V accessory port in the rear .
Some features make this model feel pretty basic for a $ 100,000 vehicle : the GX has only vinyl on the floor and 17in steel wheels . The cargo area is actually carpeted , but has a vinyl floor laid over it .
The Land Cruiser ’ s new 227kW / 700Nm 3.3L V6 twin-turbo diesel engine feels much like the previous 4.5 V8 to drive . It ’ s easy around town and when driving solo in the country . While quieter and a bit smoother than the 4.5 , with the engine spinning at around 3000rpm , there are vibrations you can feel though the steering wheel .
There ’ s some turbo lag off-idle , but once past this – and if you put your foot down – there is an appreciable improvement in response over the LandCruiser 200 Series . The V6 might be a smaller engine , but it simply gets up and goes better than a 4.5 V8 200 Series .
Part of that eagerness to get going ( once past the sluggish off-idle response ) is down to the new 10- speed auto , which moves smoothly though the ratios very well .
A vinyl floor is laid over the carpeted cargo area .
