SERIOUS IN-TENT BY MAX TAYLOR
Well , here we go . Another year , so let ’ s make it a cracker . I hope you had a fantastic festive season . Where did you find yourself ?
I went to my little hideaway on Victoria ’ s Ninety Mile Beach . Instead of staying in a van , I opted to camp for a few nights in a tent . It served as a serious reminder of how much I love caravans ! Don ’ t get me wrong , tent camping has a great deal of appeal and I enjoyed every minute of it . However , being the height of summer , I didn ’ t pack much in the way of additional blankets – the nights there are ordinarily stinking hot . However , as I tried to sleep on the stretcher bed , the cold coming up from below made me wish I ’ d packed my air mattress instead , since trapped air is a good insulator .
So it was off to town the next morning in search of a blanket I could drape over the stretcher to protect me from that chilly air the next night .
Camping in the tent was a good reminder of the convenience of caravans . I will definitely head down there again – soon – with the tent because it really was an enjoyable getaway . But I ’ ll never convert . Caravans are just too comfortable for that !
