The Great Alpine Road is a magnificent route . Omeo has some amazing history ; we only discovered the cliffs and lookout at the Oriental Claims on this trip ! There is a walking loop I ' ll come back to try . Also check out the historical buildings in Omeo itself , and remember that you can camp at the Hilltop Hotel , the caravan park or an RV stop .
Dinner Plain is a magical place where you can ski ( very close to Hotham Alpine Resort ), toboggan or even go on a husky ride . We ' ve only explored during winter , but we ' ll be back to walk and cycle the trails in summer , and camp beside cattlemen ' s huts .

This parking area is 9km west of Omeo on the Great Alpine Road . It is also 37km south-east of the Alpine village of Dinner Plain , near Hotham , or 100km from Bright .
