2PENGUIN PARADE

No visit to Phillip Island would be complete without a visit to the Penguin Parade . The island , after all , is home to the largest colony of little penguins in the world – 32,000 of them , in fact .
The Penguin Parade is an exceptionally well setup facility that allows visitors to view the penguins in an orderly fashion . An underground viewing area ( restricted to 30 visitors ) and general beachside viewing platforms are provided . As the sun sets each night , hundreds ( if not thousands ) of penguins emerge tentatively from the ocean to make their way in groups across the sand towards their burrows in the dunes .
No photography of any kind is permitted ( our images were provided by Visit Victoria ); however , this exceptional experience is very memorable . Just be sure to rug up if visiting the penguins during winter !
As with the Koala Conservation Centre , entry fees apply .

The Newlands Luxe 675 turned out to be a very suitable caravan for three kids and two parents . During our quick getaway , we had all that we needed . The club lounge was a particular highlight , as were the van ’ s easy towing characteristics .
If you ’ re in the market for a family van offering more than 500kg of payload capacity , and which can be towed by a midsize 4WD , we can recommend the Newlands Luxe 675 .
