Phillip Island is one of Victoria ’ s true natural beauties . A two-hour drive from Melbourne – a straight shot down the South Gippsland Highway , the island sits in the mouth of Westernport bay . A bridge connects the island to the ‘ mainland ’ at San Remo – access couldn ’ t be easier .
Phillip Island is 26km long and 9km wide , offering 97km of incredible coastline . Offering safe , sheltered swimming beaches on the northern Westernport side of the island , and popular surf beaches on the southern Bass Strait side , lots of holiday parks to choose from , and a seemingly endless variety of wildlife , Phillip Island is the very definition of ‘ wonderland ’.
Admittedly , it gets pretty cold on the island during winter . However , itching for a break , my family and I hitched up the Newlands Luxe 675 reviewed in the previous issue for a quick visit .
