CRUISEMASTER ANNOUNCES SAFETY RECALL
Cruisemaster has announced a product safety recall on some of its 10in and 12in electric trailer brakes .
The recall applies to Cruisemaster electric trailer brakes that were shipped from Cruisemaster between February 4 and April 20 ( part numbers 05-3075 and 05-3076 ).
According to a statement issued by Cruisemaster , the cable-operated park brake lever “ was manufactured in a way that may cause it to fail in some circumstances . The electrically-activated service brake is not affected ”.
The company , which also manufacturers the highlyregarded DO35 offroad coupling , as well as the Cruisemaster range of caravan suspension systems , said that because the electricallyactivated service brakes were unaffected , it was safe to tow a vehicle fitted with these brakes .
However , “ extreme caution must be taken when disconnecting the trailer from the tow vehicle because if the park brake is being applied and the lever fails , the trailer may move in an uncontrolled manner ”.

held or secured . We strongly recommend when the trailer is not attached to the tow vehicle that wheel chocks are used to secure the vehicle , until the replacement lever has been fitted ,” Cruisemaster said .
This is the first product safety recall in Cruisemaster ’ s 43-year history , and rectification kits are available at authorised service agents and affected manufacturers .
“ All direct customers ( those who made the purchase with Cruisemaster ) have been notified with the exact orders affected ; we are now working through the rectification process with the end users as we gain their contact details ,” Cruisemaster said .
Pedders is assisting Cruisemaster as a service agent alongside the company ’ s own national service network .
