RV WORKSHOP
This is a depiction of Glen ’ s solenoid setup , showing the solenoid ( with 12V wiring to deliver power ) and a bypass system in case the solenoid fails .
SOLENOID SETUP
I did this enhancement because it was getting harder to get down and under the van to change which tank was to supply water while using the 12V water pump .
For each tank I used a 12V solenoid and also inserted a tap in a bypass line just in case the solenoid failed . There is also an A / B switch inside the van so I can select which solenoid ( and tank ) to use .
The 12V is powered from the pump , so that when the pump is activated , the inside switches are active and the relevant solenoid is opened .
John Guest fittings were used as that is what the manufacturer of my van uses and what I had spare in my shed . The normally closed solenoids are just the garden type available from the ‘ Big Green Shed ’. This was my best-ever modification .
