TOWING AND TOURING TIPS !
ADDING EQUIPMENT
When buying your new van from a dealer , and you ’ ve asked them to add additional equipment , enquire as to whether that gear will be factored in to the Tare of the van . If the van is being built to your order , this should be the case . However , if it ’ s a stock van that the dealer is adding equipment to , then you should expect for this equipment to be considered ‘ payload ’.
CERTIFICATE
Are you about to purchase a new van ? Caravan manufacturers weigh each caravan upon completion , either using a mobile weighing service , taking it to a weigh bridge themselves , or using their own in-house weigh bridge . There should be no reason that they don ’ t provide the certificate upon request . However , that shouldn ’ t stop you from taking your new van directly to a weigh bridge yourself – before adding any water , gas or equipment – to verify the weight .
