RV TRAVEL
Although there is currently a bare site where the original lodge reception , restaurant and log cabin accommodation once stood , Arthur Groom ’ s cottage , the award winning Sky Lodges , Rainforest Campsite and Safari Tents that all survived the blaze have had a refurbishment , and will play a very important role in the resurrection and future of the original lodge as well .
OUR ITINERARY
Arriving via the rebuilt and truly spectacular $ 36m Binna Burra road , the journey from the Gold Coast is once again one of Australia ’ s great scenic drives .
Binna Burra is by far the most accessible of the Lamington National Park mountain resorts . We arrived in time for Sunday lunch and enjoyed a delicious meal at the Tea House . Set high on the mountaintop , we soaked up the spectacular views through the Numinbah Valley toward Hinze Dam , enjoying the impressive juxtaposition of the Gold Coast skyline against the Pacific Ocean .
We then checked in at the new reception located inside the Tea House that adjoins the main Rainforest Campsite .
The campsite has various options , including powered sites for campervans and small to mid-sized caravans and motorhomes , to tent sites , and a selection of rebuilt Safari Tents that provide breathtaking views across the Lamington National Park and beyond .
We enjoyed the short walk down to our Family Safari Tent , which could accommodate up to six guests , with twin queen bunks , USB charge points , and underbunk lockers that can secure any valuables you have .
Once we had offloaded our belongings , we spent the afternoon exploring the campgrounds and were very impressed to find newly installed bathrooms , laundry facilities , camp kitchen and multiple barbecue areas for all to enjoy .
