SERVO SKID PLATE
A bit of reactive maintenance ! We have an older Windsor van that has the door located behind the single axle . The step is lowered for easy access , which is all good but , as a bit of a tip for young players , it can be too low .
BEER O ’ CLOCK !
As we all know , you can never find a bottle opener when you need one at beer o ’ clock . Problem sorted !
Jack O ’ Rafferty
In Toowoomba , Qld , we stopped to fuel up . When leaving the servo , the van clobbered the extra-high kerb . In my defence , the major variation in the camber of the road and the contour of the servo driveway helped considerably in this feat .
Anyway , if I do it again the door could get wrecked as well , so I manufactured a skid-type rail supported from the chassis that now protects the door sill . It is not overly strong nor very heavy at all , so it most likely would not support a major hit but , when manoeuvring kerbs and dips , etc ., at reasonable speed , it is more than adequate and has the paint scraped off the bottom to prove it .
The next job is to fix the door sill . Geoff Drage
