PEGS AND PILLOWS
Instead of bashing pegs into the ground and invariably bending steel pegs and becoming frustrated , purchase wood screws , about 100-120mm long , and some appropriate round washers .
Use your battery drill , with socket attached , to power the screws into the ground . The round washer under the head of the screw will stop the cord slipping off .
This is a fast , easy way to camp on hard ground without the hassle . No more bent ground pegs .
Also , to cool the van on really hot days , place standard square cushions up inside any skylight , including the bathroom . The difference is very noticeable – at least 5-10 degrees cooler . You are effectively putting insulation in the roof cavity where there is none .
