RV FEATURE
The Silverado is powered by a 6.2L V8 .
MEASUREMENTS
Even though these are the smallest , lightest large US pick-ups available ( there are 2500 and 3500 versions of the Ford , RAM and HSV , with much greater capacities ) all are nearly 6m long and around 2m wide .
On narrow Australian city roads , they are big – often too big for our city parking spaces .
Despite being big overall , in terms of tray sizes these utes are not significantly larger than the likes of mid-size utes such as HiLux . Mind you , for some the 100-200mm longer and around 100mm wider trays do make a difference for lugging gear .

Despite their imposing size , none of these utes can even carry a tonne of payload . In that respect , they are much the same as the midsize dual cabs we ’ re familiar with . The F-150 is closest to a tonne at 995kg , but the rest of the field trails by around 150kg-300kg .
Don ’ t forget towball mass counts as payload , so if you ’ re planning to tow a heavy trailer , not only do you need to consider Gross Combined Mass ( as we will see ) but also reduction of available payload with a van attached .

ON NARROW CITY ROADS , THESE UTES ARE BIG – OFTEN TOO BIG FOR OUR CITY PARKING SPACES .
