THE FRONT BOOT

DOMETIC ’ S

FEELING GOOD

Dometic has scooped two Good Design Award Gold Accolades as part of Australia ’ s International Good Design Awards , announced in early September .
The RV industry supplier was recognised for two of its products , its new Dust Reduction System , designed to keep dust out of a caravan while towing , and the CFX3 portable fridge / freezer .
The Dust Reduction System ( below ) was recognised in the Product Design Automotive and Transport category for outstanding design and innovation .
More than 55 Good Design Awards jurors evaluated each entry according to a set of design criteria , covering ‘ good design ’, ‘ design innovation ’ and ‘ design impact ’. Projects recognised with a Good Design Award must demonstrate excellence in good design and convince the jury they are worthy of recognition .
The jury praised the Dust Reduction System : “ The Dometic Team has defined the problem and delivered a well thought-through solution that solves the problem in a stylish , cost-effective and technically smart way .
“ Using ram air through a filtration system when the vehicle is on the move to pressurise the caravan is really clever . No mechanical or electrical components or failure systems .”
The Dometic CFX 3 ( above ), meanwhile , scooped the accolade in the Product Design Domestic Appliances category .
According to the jury , the portable fridge / freezer was “ a nicely executed design solution that will have broad appeal and versatility beyond the camping market . The sophisticated design and world-first application of the technology is exciting ”.
The annual Good Design Awards is Australia ’ s oldest and most prestigious international design and innovation awards .
