But to drive with tow mirrors attached without
a van hitched up will very likely breach ‘over-
dimensional’ laws, which are taken from the
Australian Design Rules.
Around Australia, nothing is allowed to
protrude more than 150mm from the side of
a vehicle.
For the purposes of this rule, a caravan/vehicle
combination can be thought of as ‘one’
vehicle, hence why tow mirrors may protrude
more than 150mm from the side of the tow
vehicle when hitched up.
If the police officer who pulls you over is not
feeling particularly charitable, expect to be
fined.
