The Latta family
We are a family of four travelling Australia from
the Sutherland Shire in Sydney in a tri-bunk
Nextgen caravan.
We left our home on November 2 and found
ourselves vanning through Tasmania until mid-
December.
For Christmas this year we have pre-booked a
powered site in Robe, SA. We had to estimate
where we’d be on Christmas Day and seeing as
Christmas at home normally would be spent close
to the coast, at the beach or on the water, we
knew Robe would be a perfect fit for us.

For Christmas this year, we will be well into our lap
of Australia. We thought hard before we left for
the trip about where to spend our first Christmas
alone as a couple. We knew we would be in
Tasmania so we decided to splash out and book
a cabin at Mountain Valley Wilderness Holidays in
northern Tasmania.
We plan on a lazy, relaxed morning with the kids
opening gifts from Santa and a swim in the ocean
followed by a yummy seafood feed outside our
van. Of course, it’s going to be a beautiful sunny
day with not a cloud in the sky!

Mountain Valley Wilderness Holiday Cabins are
an eco-retreat on a private nature reserve that
allows sightings of Tasmanian devils and eastern
quolls from the cabin’s balcony. If we have to
be away from family, what better way to spend
Christmas on the road than just us two, nestled in
the wilderness and visited by exquisite Australian
animals on Christmas Day?
