RV FEATURE NOT-SO-GREY NOMADS Frannie and Crispy Last Christmas was our first away from home. We were working on an outback cattle station. We started Christmas day by heading out to explore on the quad bikes – we had been told about a secret waterhole on the property. We found the spot and were blown away, especially to think it is a place that not many people have seen. I spied what I thought was rubbish in the trees and I was horrified! Who would dump rubbish all the way out here? I went over and, to my surprise, I found a table and chairs, our portable barbecue, Christmas decorations in the tree, a bed and bowl for our dog – everything we needed for a Christmas breakfast barbecue in the bush. Crispy had gone out the day before to set it all up. Our plans for this year, though, are different, which is to be expected when you are travelling full-time, I suppose. We arrived in our first major east coast city, Townsville, in mid-December after finishing working for five months in Cloncurry, western Queensland. This is our first time on the coast in about 15 months. In order to relax for a couple of weeks over the busy holiday period, we will be house-sitting for the third time (through the website  Aussiehousesitters. com.au).  Lots of people go on holidays over Christmas and New Year’s, so it is a great time to house-sit. I’m not sure if Crispy can top last year’s surprise, but North Queensland will probably be just as impressive as the remote outback as a location to spend it together. A BIG PEACHEY ADVENTURE Michael, Natalie and three children We at A Big Peachey Adventure will be spending Christmas in Darwin, experiencing our first  wet season. We are mid-lap, taking a break from our van to house-sit over the holiday period. As we will miss our family and friends like mad, we are organising a Christmas get-together with other travelling families. A steamy Darwin day enjoying the free waterparks, a local seafood barbecues, a few ice-cold tinnies with the family and possibly other travellers will make Christmas 2018 a memorable one.
