GREETINGS AND WELCOME to Ottumwa
A
lthough 2024 has been a year of challenges at times , it also has been a year of many positive improvements for the City of Ottumwa . The mayor , city administration and the Ottumwa City Council have continued to actively work on the further development of Ottumwa ’ s 2040 Strategic Plan . The major areas in Ottumwa ’ s 2040 Strategic Plan continue to be housing , economic development , workforce retention and recruitment , community amenities and diversity .
The City of Ottumwa has continued to contract this past year with Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress ( GOPIP ) to take the lead on economic development initiatives that include both new business development and new retail development .
Ottumwa has seen an increase of $ 25 million in commercial investment this past year as evidenced by the completion of the Cobblestone Hotel , the new Ottumwa Park Shower House , the new Criminal Justice Training Center at Indian Hills North Campus , the new Wildwood Plaza next to Kohl ’ s department store and a state-of-the-art new cardiac cath lab at Ottumwa Regional Health Center . GOPIP and the city also continued conversations with the owner of Quincy Place Mall to strategize on how new tenants can be recruited and how the Quincy Mall can also be renovated to meet the changing needs of retail stores in today ’ s economy .
By everyone collaborating and working together for the betterment of Ottumwa and Wapello County , we continue to make a strong and impactful difference in the lives of all our citizens . This was another great year for the City of Ottumwa .
