So much has happened at Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress in 2024 ! To look back , it seems as though we just celebrated the new year . As we continue to change the trajectory of the organization , we see new opportunities for the organization and we have done our best to “ reinvent the wheel ” of what GOPIP means to its investors and the region we serve . To begin , with the hire of our two newest staff , we have been able to expand our digital footprint , create new service offerings , forge new partnerships and better serve our community . We have added Spanish-language marketing materials to better serve our businesses . We have created two new events in the community that directly align to our mission of creating quality-of-life amenities . More importantly , we have added new partner businesses to the growing network of GOPIP .
In the last year , we have created a nonprofit foundation arm of GOPIP , the Greater Ottumwa Development Foundation , to further serve the mission of fostering positive economic development in the Ottumwa region . We worked with our partners to secure the “ St . Joseph hospital site ,” which will be a much-needed future housing development . We have completed the necessary steps to securing site recertification of the Helgerson Flats property in Ottumwa . We have worked to ensure that the Church Street Business District is heard and — more importantly — seen .
All of this is great , but the most important thing is this ; we created and shared in all of these successes with the partners who make sure that the forward momentum of our community does not stop . You can rest assured that GOPIP will be at the table , helping to lead the way for the shared vision of a vibrant Ottumwa region .
