There ’ s plenty of activities for families to do in Ottumwa . In the summer , the 13-acre waterpark Beach Ottumwa is a great way to beat the heat , with a wave pool , slides , a floating obstacle course and sand volleyball . Major renovations were completed on the park in 2020 , bringing various improvements . Admission is $ 6 , making it easy to access .
There ’ s also the Cedar Creek Golf Course , a challenging 18-hole facility recognized for the condition of the greens and overall playability . For kids , there ’ s the Nature Nook Miniature Golf , a family-oriented ministry with Christ ’ s Church , and Tee-Rex Mini Golf at Quincy Place Mall . This 15-hole course opened in 2017 and features a jungle and dinosaur theme . The Ottumwa Old School Pinball and Arcade also provides a fun activity for kids .
For more things to do outside , there ’ s the Wapello County Trails system , based along the levee system on the Des Moines River , which provides plenty of recreational activities for walkers , runners and cyclists to enjoy the natural beauty of the area . Work is being done to finalize the business loop of the Oxbow trail this year . Other work is going into riverfront design for another completion component of the walking trails . Visitors can also expect the Southeast Iowa JBS Sports Complex and a soccer complex at 70,000 sq . ft . next year .
PERFORMING ARTS
Ottumwa has a thriving performing arts scene for all ages to participate in and enjoy . This includes Ottumwa Community Players and the Ottumwa Community Children ’ s Playhouse . Ottumwa High School and Indian Hills Community College also have theater productions going on frequently .
Musical choices include the Ottumwa Area Community Choruses and the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra , the Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra and the Ottumwa Municipal Band . Ottumwa Area Arts Council has served the Wapello County arts community for 50 years this year .
Bridge View Center is also a popular venue in Ottumwa , with concerts , shows and conferences held there throughout the year .
