PARKS
There are over a dozen parks for families to do fun activities in, and more that are just around the corner.
According to Cyan Bossou, investor and events coordinator for the Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress, the community effort that is Market Street Landing has been steadily coming into fruition. Located along the riverfront on the north side of the Des Moines River, Market Street Landing will feature new housing, a relocated skate park, a riverwalk and an inclusive playspace.
“ We’ ve had several different committees from the community come together— design, sponsorship, marketing • really, any aspect of the park that you can think of, there’ s been a committee of community members put together to design that,” Bossou said.“ So there’ s fencing all the way around the park to help with the families who have kiddos who like to run, and then all of the bathrooms are fully accessible. There are wheelchair stations by the bathrooms as well.”
Bossou says approximately $ 2.5 million has been raised of the $ 3 million goal.
