Ottumwa Regional Health Center Ottumwa Regional Health Center ( ORHC ) is more than a provider of health care services . Its commitment to providing exceptional service in a compassionate manner means the patients and their families are the center of attention .
The health center began as the Ottumwa Hospital Association in 1892 and admitted its first patient in 1894 . It has provided general acute care hospital services from the Pennsylvania Avenue location since 1952 .
In April 2021 , ORHC named Dennis Hunger as CEO , replacing Phil Noel , who retired November 2021 after 50 years in the health care industry .
ORHC offers in-hospital care , outpatient care and one-day services , all providing peace of mind to residents of the region .
ORHC also offers secondary level health care to residents in Wapello County and the seven surrounding counties . An increasing emphasis is placed on relationships with neighboring community hospitals , physicians and agencies that depend on providers in Ottumwa for specialty care . River Hills Community Health Center River Hills Community Health Center opened a family practice clinic in November 2000 at 201 S . Market St . in Ottumwa , providing comprehensive medical services to southeast Iowa .
Over the years , there has been significant growth , including a new two-story addition onto the Ottumwa clinic . Part of that growth also includes dental , women ’ s health and family planning , behavioral health and pediatric services . Growth into River Hills ’ service area includes Centerville , Richland , Sigourney , Oskaloosa and Fairfield .
The mission of River Hills CHC —“ To improve the health outcomes of our patients by providing exceptional health care services ”— is carried out daily by employees of River Hills CHC .
River Hills CHC accepts Medicare , Medicaid , most private health insurances and also offers a sliding-fee payment scale for those who are uninsured . The sliding-fee scale is based on income and household size .
