OFFERS FUN IN THE SUN
The end of July means golf , networking and fun at GOPIP .
The annual GOPIP Golf Classic brings all of that and has become a tradition for investors , though it ’ s seen changes and grown through the years .
The prizes , the relaxing day of golf , the ability to network , however , all remain , as do the classic sponsors of Hotel Ottumwa and Servepro .
“ It ’ s really a great networking opportunity . People like the free beverages and food , the 50-50 raffle . They like all that ,” said Shea Greiner , vice president of engagement and organizational advancement for GOPIP .
“ We almost doubled our hole sponsors
this year with new activities throughout the course ,” Greiner said .“ A new hole sponsor and favorite of the golfers was Fareway with steak sandwiches , and they will be back next year .”
A total of 44 teams of four is a sellout for the tournament .“ The only stipulation is that you are an investor in GOPIP ,” Greiner said .“ Normally , the tournament sells out a couple weeks in advance .”
The tournament , which was the 80th annual outing in 2021 , has always been at The Club , an 18-hole golf course , Greiner said . It ’ s a shotgun start with all the teams on the course at once , though they spread out more throughout the day . The next Golf Classic is tentatively set for July 22 , 2022 .
“ The tournament is a fundraiser for GOPIP , but it ’ s also a way for us to give back to our investors , a way to thank our investors ,” she said .“ It ’ s really just a fun , relaxing day where people can network with each other over golf .”
