The biggest wave surfed in Nazaré again
As we know, in January 2013, the North American McNamara made Nazaré famous
around the world by surfing a giant wave with 30 meters, having then beaten his own
record.

Last year, the giant waves of Nazaré were the
stage of another remarkable worldrecord. On 11th
December 2014 the French surfer Benjamin Sanchis
rode a 33-metre wave at Praia do Norte, which
became the new world record as it beats
McNamara’s best by a full three metres.
According to RTL France, the Frenchman’s successful and death defying
achievement has already been confirmed and approved as a Guinness World Record.
In an interview to Billabong, Sanchis confessed that for a moment he had feared
for his life. "I am really happy I'm still alive. In the first bump, I kept going but the
wave didn't let me go all the way down, because it was too steep. Then a few seconds
later I fell, and I saw that massive wall of water coming around all over me and I
realized I was in the craziest, giant tube I've ever seen.”, said Sanchis.
