several months, and plan to add facial recognition software to the cameras in the hospital.
“ Not only do our staff need to worry about making sure they’ re rounding all their patients, taking their vital signs, making sure they’ re documenting everything- they have to worry about that patient slugging them. Or worse,” said Gerard.
Gerard shared their 2024 statistics: with 105 licensed beds there were 4,0004 inpatients, 125,098 outpatients, and 37,269 emergency visits. 346 heart catheterizations were performed over the year, 592 children were born in the hospitals, and 8,850 surgeries were performed.
Gerard then spoke about how surgeries are being performed at the hospital by using the da Vinci
Surgical System, which allows surgeons to perform minimally invasive surgery using robotic controls. These surgery machines are capable of prostatectomy and other urologic procedures. Using the robotic systems, surgeons do not have to handle the surgical instruments directly, and allows for the performance of intricate and delicate procedures with high precision.
“ Less complications, less blood loss, less pain, if you have to have surgery this is what you want doing it,” said Gerard.
Gerard ended his speech by asking for support from the community.
“ No need to go to Lexington, unless it’ s just something that we cannot provide. Shop local,” said Gerard.
