Burton chose to see her primary care provider , nurse practitioner Cassaidy Hendrickson with James Family Practice in Corbin and First Care in London . “ I couldn ’ t walk from the vehicle to the waiting room by myself ,” Megan said . Testing indicated that Megan had a severe urinary tract infection , though she wasn ’ t exhibiting any symptoms of a UTI , so she was prescribed antibiotics . However , Hendrickson was convinced that something else was going on and urged Megan to come back for more testing . When Megan was still dehydrated at that followup appointment on July 20 , she wound up in the ER at Baptist Health Corbin . By the time she got through triage there , Megan ’ s resting heart rate was 148 beats per minute . She was scheduled for a liver ultrasound and CT scan . Lesions were found on
Megan ’ s rectum and liver . Due to a seafood allergy that kept Megan from having contrast done , doctors weren ’ t sure what they were seeing but did advise Megan that it was likely cancer . It wasn ’ t a word Megan was ready to hear , given that she ’ d never had any health problems before beyond the gallbladder surgery , so she asked what else it could be . “ She danced around it but never really gave us any other option that it would be anything but cancer ,” Megan said . Without a definitive diagnosis through , Megan opted to have another CT scan with precautions to prevent an allergic reaction to the contrast . That test confirmed lesions on her rectum , liver and right lung . From there , Megan was admitted to the hospital and underwent a liver biopsy as well as endoscopy and colonoscopy . Dr .
