WE ALL HAVE A STORY TO TELL ONLY SOME STORIES ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS

I ' m often asked a tricky question by some who are looking to make a career for themselves in a highly competitive field:
" What makes a good sports journalist?"
In response, I often ask that person to find one first and let me know. However, in my humble opinion, any good journalist knows a good story when they see it. If there isn ' t one around, then it is our job to find it. The story is what is important.
It is something that is often lost in a world of quick journalism. The story becomes secondary in favour of clickbait articles purely designed to get as many clicks as possible. In short, the story is slowly becoming less important.
Correct me if I am wrong but that is not why I ever dreamed of becoming a journalist. For this reason, Golfhacker was born in an attempt to tell the stories that people actually want to read, take an interest in and most importantly, come back to.
We all have stories to tell only some stories are better than others. Meeting young players always reminds me of that.
Some have a natural ability, some have to work hard and sacrifice everything in order to make their dreams come true. For some, however, it is purely personal.
All three are highlighted in this issue as we meet three completely different players and three completely golfing
journeys.
Inci Mehmet is a young golfer on the rise. She has had a great summer which culminated in a dream coming true as she played in her first major at the Ricoh Women ' s British
Open.
Ashley Mason tells us the story of how a great result at last years British Par 3 Championship can change your circumstances. We find out more about his year since that
event.
Then there is Jenny Falconer. The T. V and Radio star has fallen in love with golf. You can find out more about her personal golfing story right here.
All great, personal stories. No Clickbait here that is for sure.
