Georgia Hall has proven that a lot can
be achieved at a young age. Only one
year older than Inci, Hall has
cemented her place on the LPGA and
more recently, had major success at
this years Ricoh Women's British Open.
For Inci, Hall is an inspirational figure.
and in doing so it will make her more
determined to succeed.
The rise is only one stage as more
challenges await. There is already no
doubt in my mind that Mehmet will be one
for the future. She has the game, the mind
and the desire to make that happen.
"Playing golf with Georgia as an
amateur, she's won the British girls,
women's and now the Open. It's
amazing and really inspirational as a
player and a friend to watch her stand
there with the trophy. It's amazing."
British women's golf is certainly in safe
hands at the moment and it is hoped
that Hall's victory at Royal Lytham & St
Annes can make the game even more
popular than it already is. For players
like Inci Mehmet who are just
beginning their careers, Hall has now
become the gold standard to aim for.
Mehmet certainly has majors on her
mind as she strives to continue the
British success. We asked her if she
had a putt to win the Solheim Cup or
the Ricoh Women's British Open, which
one would she pick?
Her answer was immediate. "I'm going
to sound quite selfish here but I'd say
the British Open."
In truth, there is nothing selfish about
her response. If anything it shows
where her objectives lay. Here is a
player that is easy to talk to and
charming but underneath the smiles is
the heart of a competitor.
There is a steely determination to
succeed at whatever she does. It was
certainly impressive to see as she
embarks on her golfing journey. This
summer might be filled with great
memories for Mehmet, but she will
